Governor Heineman Designates April as "Call Before You Dig" Month
03/19/2009
On March 11, 2009, Governor Heineman proclaimed April as “Call Before you Dig Month” in the State of Nebraska. The Nebraska One Call Board of Directors and representatives from Digger’s Hotline, the Attorney General’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office were in attendance for the ceremony held at the State Capitol in Lincoln, Nebraska. The proclamation coincides with the Common Ground Alliance and its stakeholders in designating April 2009 as National Safe Digging Month. This month is dedicated to increasing awareness of safe digging practices across the country and to celebrate the two-year anniversary of 811, the national call-before-you-dig number.

Throughout the busy digging month of April, Digger’s Hotline of Nebraska along with the Common Ground of Nebraska and the National CGA is encouraging homeowners and contractors to call 811 before they dig to prevent injuries, property damage and inconvenient outages.

Please join us in Safe Digging Month by contacting Digger’s Hotline before beginning any outdoor digging project, large or small. If a neighbor is planning a digging project, remind them to contact Digger’s Hotline before they break ground.
