Digger’s Hotline Takes “811” Out to the Ballgame
07/21/2009
As a 2009 sponsor of the Omaha Royals Baseball Club, Digger’s Hotline of Nebraska took the message of “811” out to the ballgame on Friday, July 17th.
With an attendance of 13,101 baseball fans, Digger’s Hotline along with the 811 Mascot shared the message of damage prevention and safe digging with a display booth and promotional handouts. Throwing out the first pitch of the ballgame was Kevin Wilgus. Kevin is the son of Grace Wilgus, a Customer Service Representative with Digger’s Hotline.
Throughout the 2009 Royals Baseball season, Digger’s Hotline has sponsored the lucky number scorecard promotion. The 72 winner’s of the lucky number contest receive a safe digging care package consisting of an 811 t-shirt, gardening gloves and a white flag to be used in marking the proposed dig area. 811 is the national three digit dialing number that connects to each State’s One Call Notification Center. Digger’s Hotline of Nebraska is the One Call Notification Center serving the State of Nebraska.
Digger’s Hotline conducts various outreach events throughout the year to educate the public on safe digging and protecting the vast underground utility infrastructure found across the State of Nebraska and the United States. In 1994, the Nebraska Legislature passed The One Call Notification System Act requiring all individuals to contact Digger’s Hotline 48 business hours prior to digging anywhere in the State of Nebraska. The statutes apply not only to professional contractors. Homeowners and personal property owners are also required to contact Digger’s Hotline to have their utility lines located.
Participating in events similar to the Omaha Royals promotion, allows that message to reach all audiences. For further information regarding Digger’s Hotline of Nebraska and the One Call Notification System Act visit
